Introduction

Building off the work of the Education and Outreach Working Group (active 1999-2019), the Communications Working Group was established in March 2022. The Communications Working Group acts as a resource for other task force working groups and aids in all task force communication needs. The group develops content such as newsletters, social media, and other outreach materials to help promote the task force and engage new members, managers, and the general public. We promote collaboration within the task force through our communication liaisons – members of our working group attend other working group meetings and report back on needs and priorities. We also assist in the preparation of outreach materials for the task force’s biannual meetings, workshops, and seminars.

Since March 2022, our working group has successfully developed materials such as social media tool kits, regional informational brochures, in-person tabling events, website development and design, and task force branding. Future projects include continuing support of other working groups’ needs, in-person task force meetings, and learning exchanges on coral communications for our members.
